About
James P. Dowling, MSc is a depth psychologist, molecular biologist, and Clinical Fellow in Neuropsychoanalysis (NPSA). He holds a First Class Honours degree in Biochemistry from the University of Surrey, a Master’s by Research in Cell Biology from the University of Kent, and conducted doctoral research in biochemistry at the University of Manchester, specialising in ribosome-associated long non-coding RNAs. His professional training in depth psychology was completed at the Institute for Psycho-Systems Analysis (IPSA), where he qualified as a Psycho-Systems Analyst and taught on the professional training programme for over four years.
James has published a series of neuropsychoanalytic bulletins through the International Neuropsychoanalysis Society, developing an original research programme bridging molecular biology, quantum models, and psychodynamics — including his Competitive Omics States model and a mind–body loop framework integrating Jungian complex theory with predictive processing and gene-regulatory networks. He is author of Logos Vitae: Project for a Molecular and Quantum Psychodynamics (2022; second edition in preparation).
He is the creator and host of The Jung Project, an independent scholarly podcast and platform undertaking a comprehensive line-by-line exegesis of Jung’s Collected Works, and has produced an extensive Foundations article series covering the essential concepts of Jungian psychology from primary sources. His accompanying YouTube channel has reached a global audience of 47,000 subscribers.
James serves as both UK Country Chair and Chief Technology Officer of IAPC, overseeing the UK Chapter, the UK Clinical Register, and the organisation’s digital infrastructure.
